One of the things I love most about riding my bike, is the awareness that comes from seeing things that are often missed when travelling in a motorized vehicle.
Last week, as I was quietly peddling along a country road, in & amongst the never-ending sea of green, a lone dandelion head stood out proudly, beckoning me to stop for a moment to make a wish.
As a child, I recall countless times picking one of these heads & with a hearty blow, watching as the tiny little florets carried my wishes off into the air.
On my return route, I kept my eyes open, in search of the lonely little head I had seen on my way out. What my crappy cellphone photo does not show clearly, is how the sunlight shining down through the little florets, made it look like mother nature had meticulously painted each delicate little floret with gold.
Of course, I couldn’t resist. I made my wish!
I promise not to tell. What would you wish for?
Hugs,
L♥
More days meandering down a quiet country road on a bicylce… 🙂
What a wonderful wish! I think we could all benefit from a little bit more meandering!
I’ve never heard of making a wish with a dandelion flower. What fun! It gives the lowly dandelion a bit of star status 🙂
What would I wish for? Something really simple right now … to find the missing cable to recharge my FitBit. It’s MIA and driving me crazy trying to think of where I might have put it. Grrrr.
That’s interesting Joanne that you have never heard of this. I couldn’t count the number of dandelions we blew into the air as kids.
As for your FitBit cable, if I was I genie I would quickly make that wish come true!
Thank you! I hope your genie powers are strong … I’m almost at the point of trying to buy a new one.
This is what happens when I’m scrabbling to clean the house before we leave for a few days. If I had left the house in its usual disarray, the cable would be out in plain sight!
I feel your pain Joanne! Your missing cable reminded me of one of my early posts I wrote! Have a read, there may be a troll in your house as well!
I still do that sometimes too! 🙂
So I am in good company then Jodi!
Indeedy! 🙂

you’ve reminded me of a fun childhood memory, one full of hope and promise!
It’s amazing how such a little thing can bring up such vivid childhood memories, isn’t it? Wishing you continued days of hope & promise Laurie.
So has it come true yet, Lynn, or is it a longer term wish? Not fishing… honest! 🙂
Just at the moment I would wish for better health, and happiness, for my daughter. She’s experiencing troubled times.
I am so sorry to hear your daughter is experiencing troubled times. It is so hard for us when our children are hurting & we can’t solve or fix the problem. Sending my best thoughts in hopes that she is feeling better soon.
Thank you so much, Lynn. It’s not something I can talk about on my blog, just in case she should see. Hugs! 🙂
Fair enough, I totally understand. Hugs back at you my friend:)
One of my most popular posts was about making a wish. I bet you will get tons of searches. I used to have random people make outrageous wishes.
I wish for health and happiness for my family. What more is there?
I absolutely concur Susie. Health & happiness are the best wish any of us could wish for! Thanks for stopping by today, truly appreciated!
This is lovely Lynn.
Thanks Susannah! Appreciate your visit:)
Love the picture. Sorry I couldn’t reply sooner. We were on a cruise. 🙂
Thanks Nelson! How wonderful that you were on a cruise. Where were you travelling?
We started and ended in Copenhagen. Went to Oslo, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Lerwick, Portree, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, and Newcastle. It was 12 days and we spent 2 dayz at each end in Copenhagen. Denmark is hugely expensive. It cost $6 for a Grande Coffee at Starbucks. They have a 25% VAT included. A small Caesar Salad with chicken was $40 and a bottle of Pepsi was $8. The costs at home now seem really reasonable. We had a great time though.
Wow! Sounds like an amazing trip although the price of Caesar Salad is outrageous!
I’d wish for contentment I think. Lovely post. Riding a bike has that ability to take you anywhere physically and mentally. 🙂
What a lovely wish. You are so right, riding a bike is such great therapy.
I have a sign in my house that reads: “The bicycle is a simple solution to some of the world’s most complicated problems” So very true! Thanks for the visit!
🙂
