And so it begins…the whining about winter. Yesterday morning, in my little neck of the woods, we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. At first glance, most marvel at the majestic beauty that Mother Nature bestowed upon us through the night but within seconds, that delight turns to pissing & moaning about the weather. Cue winter….
Now I might be going out on a limb here, but for as far back as I can remember, we get snow. Seriously people…WE LIVE IN CANADA!!! It should come as no surprise that have winter!
If you do not like winter, you should:
A. Move a sunny climate year round
B. There is no other option….move to a sunny climate!!!
Embrace the changing seasons. Winter is a time for nesting, hot chocolate, warm fires & cozy sweaters. Strap on a pair of snowshoes & take a walk through the woods after a beautiful snow fall & just stop & listen to the the silence. Lace up a pair of skates & find an outdoor patch of ice or better yet skate the canal in Ottawa stopping along the way for a delicious Beaver Tail. Take a ski lesson & stand at the top of a mountain to view one of the most incredible vistas your eyes can see. This is winter in its glorious beauty!
Put on your big girl/boy pants, throw on a few extra layers & find something to get you outdoors & active during this season. I have a hunch it will most likely last until March or April so you might as well enjoy it while its here.
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
L♥
What is your favourite winter activity?
Awww yes, the freshly fallen snowflakes looked like sparkling diamonds this gorgeous day @ Lake Louise, I love the snow for these exact moments.
We’ve had snow since the beginning of November and thankful for that as last year here in the West the snow arrived Oct 4 and stayed til the end of April……just saying XO
This was a magical day indeed, my dear friend. Sipping on that fancy schmancy delicious concoction in the Chateau Lake Louise while we looked out at the mountains…sigh…it is time for a return visit gf!
Stunning morning here yesterday in Ontariariario! XO
Ok..I get it but truthfully it’s hard to embrace coming home to it from Kiwi Land..just saying 🙂
Agreed my friend! After spending 5 glorious weeks travelling in New Zealand, I am certain it will be difficult to be greeted with the cold & snow when you get home. If it helps, I look forward to night of sharing a bottle of wine together & hearing all about your marvelous adventure!
There is nothing better than crisp air, snow on the ground and heaped on the trees and bright sunshine…
Absolutely concur Karen! I love those beautiful winter days:)
Beautiful though it may be, Lynn, I’m glad not to live there! 🙂 I have family in Calgary and would love to see Banff and the national parks, but I can live without the snow.
LOL…I don’t think you are alone in that opinion Jo but it truly is beautiful! You should definitely visit those relatives to experience the magic of the mountains. Banff is gorgeous, there is a cable car that you can take up Sulphur Mountain to a walking platform that overlooks the mountains. Spectacular view!!! The picture above was taken at Lake Louise which is about 1/2 hr from Banff, another gorgeous area in our West. I hope you get to visit some day!
Super photo! Im very happy I don’t live there haha, I do like snow… for a day or two! x
This photo is one of my favourites! It was taken when I was out visiting a very dear friend who now lives in Alberta & we ventured over to Banff & Lake Louise for the day. There was fresh snow on the ground & the sun was shining. A perfect, magical winter day. Lake Louise is a stunning place & this picture captures exactly how I was feeling, my heart was full!
🙂 Amen! .. but I still wanna move
cheers, God Bless
love, c
